Baked Macaroni and Cheese

No dish is complete without a side of homemade macaroni and cheese. And I'm talking about the REAL deal that gets put in the oven and baked with a crusty browning and several types of cheese!


Total Time: 45 Minutes (Prep - 15 Minutes/Cook - 30 Minutes)

Servings: 10


Ingredients

  • 1lb large elbow macaroni pasta

  • 1 stick butter

  • 6 cups sharp cheddar cheese

  • 2 cups heavy cream

  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs

  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

  • Salt to taste


Instructions

  1. In boiling salted water, cook pasta about 8 minutes. Drain and set aside. In a sauce pan, melt butter over medium heat. Add 4 cups of cheese, heavy cream and salt & pepper.

  2. Stir continuously until melted, about 2 to 3 minutes. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray or butter 9 x 13 baking dish.

  3. Pour noodles in baking dish. Pour sauce over and stir to combine. In a separate bowl, mix 2 cups of cheese and panko crumbs to combine.

  4. Sprinkle evenly over the macaroni mixture.

  5. Bake for 20 to 30 minutes until bubbly and golden on top.
