Simple French Toast

What is brunch without a delicious French Toast plate, topped with fresh fruit, powdered sugar, honey, syrup and butter dripping on the plate? This will be kept in rotation for your Saturday and Sunday brunch plans.

Total Time: 15 Minutes (Prep - 10 Minutes / Cook - 5 Minutes)

Servings: 8

Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs

  • 2/3 cup milk

  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour

  • 2 teaspoon vanilla

  • 1/2 cup sugar

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg

  • 8-10 slices thick cut white bread

  • Oil or nonstick spray for the pan

Instructions

  1. Heat a large frying pan over medium-low to medium heat.

  2. In a large shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs. Add in the milk, flour, vanilla, sugar & cinnamon and whisk until well combined and the mixture is an even consistency without any chunks of eggs and flour.

  3. Grease the griddle or frying pan with about 1 teaspoon of oil or spray with nonstick cooking spray.

  4. Dunk each slice of bread into the mixture until well coated, then flip over to dunk the other side. Shake off any extra batter, then place on the heated griddle/frying pan.

  5. Fry for about 1-2 minutes until the first side begins to turn golden brown, then flip and fry the second side until golden. Repeat with the remaining slices of bread.

  6. Serve immediately with syrup and desired toppings.

Tips

* Feel free to top your French Toast with your favorite toppings, such as fresh fruit, honey, whipped cream, powdered sugar, etc.
