I don't eat a lot of pork anymore (one of those foods that I seem to grow out of as I get older), but every now and then, a craving for some deep fried southern style pork chops hits my soul. This is a very easy, go-to recipe for me in those moments. You can use whatever spices you desire for this dish.
Total Time: 20 Minutes (Prep - 5 Minutes / Cook - 15 Minutes)
Servings: 4
Ingredients
4 bone-in pork chops (1/2-inch thick)
1 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup canola or vegetable oil (enough to cover bottom of pan for frying)
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon seasoned salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
Cayenne pepper to taste
Instructions
Season the pork chops with seasoned salt, cayenne pepper and black pepper on both sides.
Combine all the dry ingredients.
Dredge each side of the pork chop int he flour mixture, making sure to beat off any excess flour. Set aside on a plate (or put straight into the oil).
Heat oil over medium to medium-high heat. Add butter. When butter is melted and butter/oil mixture is hot, cook 2 to 3 pork chops at a time, 4-5 minutes on the first side and 3-5 minutes on the other side.
Remove to a plate covered with paper towels and repeat with remaining pork chops.
Tips
* You can also make this dish using 8 thin cut pork chops.
