Total Time: 55 Minutes (Prep - 20 Minutes / Cook - 35 Minutes)

Servings: 8

Ingredients

  • 1 can refrigerated biscuits

  • 1 lb ground sausage

  • 3 slices thick-cut bacon, diced

  • 1 1/2 cups cheese

  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese

  • 4 eggs

  • 1/2 cup whole or heavy whipping cream

For the Gravy

  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream

  • 1/2 cup milk

  • 2 tablespoons flour

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • 1/4 cup cooked breakfast sausage

  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease a baking dish or casserole dish with nonstick cooking spray. Line biscuits in a single layer in the dish. If you want, you can spread a little melted butter over the biscuit dough.

  2. Cook the breakfast sausage in a skillet. Reserve 1/4 cup of the sausage. Sprinkle remaining sausage over the biscuits.

  3. Cook diced bacon to the same skillet as the sausage until crispy. Pour off excess bacon fat grease. Sprinkle bacon on top of the sausage and biscuits.

  4. Add 1 1/2 cups of layered cheese on top of the sausage.

  5. In a mixing bowl, add the eggs and 1/2 cup whipping cream. Whisk well and pour over the sausage and biscuits.

  6. Using the same skillet you cooked the bacon in, mix the flour, butter, whipping cream, milk, reserved sausage, and salt and pepper.

  7. Heat the gravy, whisking often over medium low heat, until thick and bubbling.

  8. Pour gravy into casserole dish and sprinkle the final top layer of cheese.

  9. Bake casserole for 30-35 minutes or until bubbly and the center is set. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
