During this time of year, your inbox is probably flooded with more party invitations than you've gotten all year. Almost every other night, every weekend, you've got another invite to another party - and they want you to bring a dish!!!
Who has time to cook? Who has time to jump into the kitchen and make something delicious to serve to 12 or 14 people? It's too much to ask!!!
Trust me, I understand. And sadly, there are only so many boxes of Publix chicken wings and Costco meat and cheese trays that can be served at a party at any one time. So you're going to have to become more creative with the dishes you bring.
Here's the good thing about these events; most of the time, they aren't expecting anything heavy or elaborate to be brought to the table. Most everyone will be mingling and chatting with each other too much to be concerned with sitting down for a full meal. These events often invite people to bring light finger foods, or appetizers, or hors d'oeuvres. You know, small bites that a person can carry in their hand, or a napkin, and pop into their mouths easily and quickly without becoming a mess. Does knowing that help with your holiday party planning stress?
It should, because it takes a lot of time and weight off your shoulders and schedule. But if it doesn't, then let me step in and give you this piece of advice; there are so many quick and easy recipes that you can come up with for appetizers. Remember, you're not feeding people; you're more so giving them something light to nibble on during the night.
So don't think too heavy. Think about some of the things that you like to start a meal, or things you have eaten at the start of a meal:
Shrimp cocktails
Dips (spinach and artichoke and cheese dips are very popular) and crackers
Meatballs
Pigs in a blanket
Popcorn chicken or chicken tenders
Cheese and meat
Pastries or bread meals
These are some of the more popular appetizers served, especially at a holiday party. But, don't stay limited to just these ideas. Expand your imagination, extend your taste palette.
We about the love of holiday appetizers, so can we get some meatballs and stuffed mushrooms!?
