It's that special time of the year.

The holiday season always seems to crank up the heat (pun intended). Parties and celebrations, shopping, decorations, family visiting from out of town ... so much takes place in such a short span of time, and everything always involved food.

Everyone's kitchen is operating at a higher frequency than usual during this time. As we move from Thanksgiving to Christmas, the star of the dinner table switches to desserts and sweet treats. But never fear, that's why I am here - to help you during this hectic time of year.

One thing that makes the holidays special is the memories that are crafted by friends and family, especially in the kitchen. For Thanksgiving, people remember making Thanksgiving dinner with their family members. For Christmas, people often remember making sweet treats to share at office parties and cookie swaps (have you ever done a cookie swap? They are so much fun!). There is also the scents and flavors that are associated with the holiday seasons in the kitchen. Think about it; come Christmas, you start dreaming of peppermint and sugar cookies for Santa, while Thanksgiving has cinnamon, nutmeg and pumpkin on the brain.

Take advantage of the holidays to inspire you when you go into the kitchen to make those special treats for friends and family. Let those familiar scents that you loved growing up remind you of what you enjoyed the most.

We about the love of holiday treats - skip the frosting and just give me the cookies!
