Let me paint a picture; everyone has just finished eating a delicious meal made by you (go ahead and pat yourself on the back) and now is ready to stretch out and relax. But you turn to the kitchen and make a startling revelation; a pile of pots, dishes and pans, stacked high in the sink, crusted with remnants of leftover food.
Nothing makes cooking and cleaning the kitchen more dreadful than having to wash dishes. Some people (me included) hate to wash dishes. And, if some people were honest, that might be a reason why people don't want to cook.
But, there are plenty of recipes that don't require more than one pot or one pan. Simple and easy, you can make everything you need in one pot or one pan. Imagine; a full meal that you can keep in a single pot or pan.
Now you may be thinking about some dishes that are already one-pot dishes, like most soups, stews, chili, and pasta dishes. And yes, you are correct. But one-pot meals don't necessarily mean using only one pot on the stove. The idea behind a one-pot dish is to create a meal that doesn't require you switching between two or three different pots and pans. This includes baking dishes too! There are one-pot meals that you can make in an oven-safe pot or a baking dish (casseroles are great examples that I'll cover in another post) too.
The benefit is all your cooking is done in one dish. However, unlike crockpot cooking, it's not as easy and tossing everything into that dish and leaving it alone. You have to remember to keep an eye on it, or risk burning the food. But, if you do it right, you can literally take the pot from the stove to the table without skipping a beat (and everyone can serve themselves).
We about the love of one-pot meals and no dishes afterwards.
