Sweet. Succulent. Strawberries.

Fun fact #1: Strawberries are not, contrary to popular belief, actual berries, but they are considered a fruit.

Fun fact #2: Most people think they are best picked and eaten in winter, but they are actually at peak season in late spring/early summer.

Fund fact #3: I didn't eat my first strawberry until I was in college.

Strawberries are one of the fruits that can be versatile and eaten different ways. They can be eaten on their own, they can made into jellies and jams, they can be included in many desserts, fruit salads, smoothies...the possibilities are endless.

Many people think that February is the best time to get strawberries, but that's only the start of their peak season. April is when locally grown strawberries are at their very best, at their sweetest and most succulent. And it makes for a great outing to find a local strawberry patch for you and the family to visit together.

There are also health benefits to indulging in strawberries. They are high in water and vitamin C, help regulate heart health and blood sugar, and are a great low calorie snack as well, with only 32 calories per strawberry.

They provide the perfect snack, a sweet treat, a beautiful dessert...and with the summer coming up, a perfect fruit to shop for.

We about the love of strawberries, and I need directions to the nearest strawberry patch.
