We About The Love of ... Pizza

Updated: Jun 26, 2020

Every Friday growing up, dinner was one of two options; seafood or pizza. While my mother usually voted seafood (and I love seafood with all my heart), as a child, I often voted for pizza.

My father and I loved Pizza Hut as I was growing up (even now, when I order from Pizza Hut, I think about my father and wish he was here to enjoy it with me), but as I grew older, I tried other pizza chains. I enjoy Dominos, Papa Johns is straight up trash, Little Caesar and Hungry Howie is good in a pinch, and Pizza Hit still reigns supreme.

But now, as I continue to eat my way through life, I am trying other pizza places, especially local business and hole in the wall spots. They are so so creative with their recipes and toppings and flavors.

Often, people think about the basic foundations of pizza; pepperoni, sausage, extra cheese, maybe a few vegetable toppings, such as bell peppers, mushrooms, olives and onions. Then, or course, you have more controversial toppings and combinations; the infamous discussion between pineapple and ham on the same slice (just for the record, that is NOT appropriate together), I've also heard about pickles on pizza (just why?), and would you believe that people have made candy pizza too?

Pizza is a fun dish to make, especially when children are involved. Pizza making is a great dish that could be a fun family activity to engage in together. Get you some fresh pizza dough, pick out your favorite toppings and get creative with them (you can make a smiley face with the toppings).

But what is interesting is how you can incorporate the flavors of pizza into some of your other favorite dishes as well. You'd be surprised what some of the key ingredients to your favorite pizza dish can be added to other plates to create a new, pizza-inspired creation.

We about the love of pizza, so it's time to make some dough!
